You should go, really. With all the tourism money pouring in, the amenities in Siem Reap are up to Western standards. As long as you stick to the tourist-friendly hotels and eateries, that is. I didn't want to trust my gastro-intestinal system to street food. There's a new airport as well, so you can just fly in and avoid those pesky bandits out on the jungle roads.
Just remember to get malaria meds. I didn't have any, but bummed some off my traveling companions.
