Another day, another vet visit

Comments

I've had the not-eating situation with various unwell cats, and you're right there is nothing more stressful. When it's your job to care for a little beastie and they won't take the nourishment you offer, you feel so helpless. (Hm, this is giving me insight into how my mom must have felt when I was anorexic.)

But you've left him in good hands today. Hugs and hope all is well later.

Amy, I missed your earlier Elvis posts. What a mess! Is the Kitty Spa keeping you updated throughout the day? Here's hoping he snaps out of this. Maybe it's just the fever affecting him. At least the hospital will be able to hook him up to liquids and nutrients on an IV.

Hang in there!

I was going out of my mind this morning, which is always good when dealing with animals. Elvis was not happy about going to the vet. I told him, "It's your own goddamn fault we're going to back the vet. If you would just eat your FOOD and drink your WATER, you could have stayed home!!!"

Poor baby. If he hadn't been so clingy this morning, I would have cut him more slack.

And your poor mom. She was probably going out of her head with you as well. I'm glad you are back to with the eating these days. :-)

Thanks. He's back down to 100, he was close to 103 yesterday. It's only been two hours, so I thought I'd check in a little later on. I'll have to grab some work to take home and go get him before traffic snarls up at the end of the day.

I would be a nervous wreck (again) if he was home without any observation. He doesn't know how to dial 911.

Crossing fingers for you over here.
Poor Elvy! And poor Amy, too! I hope he gets better soon!! I don't blame you at all for being so stressed out about this.
Amy, do you have to test him too?? Or do they only do that at the vets?
My best friend is diabetic, so I'm all too familiar with the whole routine.
Come on Elvy!! Eat your food, baby. Come on, good boy --- you're worrying your wonderful mommy --- EAT!!
I hope the day at the spa helps him, Amy.
((huggs to you both))
I'm with arbed, maybe Elvis is not eating b/c of the respiratory infection/fever has left him without an appetite. being diabetic complicates the issue as he is now at risk of hypoglycemia...
perhaps he needs to stay at the vet's (sorry Elvy!) for a couple of days so he can stay on IV fluids for a day or two, until he's over his illness and has regained some strength.

poor, poor, Mr. Wuv-Wuv. maybe he was so clingy this am b/c he realizes something is wrong: "what's wrong with me? why am I not eating? I spurned Temptation Treats? and tuna? tuna???!! mom, I'm sick and scared"

I just called the vet's. He ate some this morning and hasn't vomited again. Yay! He doesn't get 'released' until after 2:00 p.m. I feel better having him there, even if he doesn't like it.

Poor Mr. Wuv-Wuv, indeed. My heart was breaking because all he wanted was to be held and to be near me, but I couldn't get him to eat for the world. My sweet kittums.

Aw, poor little dewd. Glad he is doing a little better. as Mariser said, he was probably clingy because he was a little scared because he wasn't feeling well. And then of course they sense your anxiety. Has he been pooping and peeing normally?
My vet alluded to doing tests on my cat at one point. Her diabetes is very mild, but can fluctuate. I would infer, then, that it is done. Personally, I can't see sticking Maggie on a regular basis any more than her current daily shots.
