Rockin' with Shatner

Comments

Well, you can rip the CD onto your computer and then play us a track by posting it in your audio files. That's about as advanced as I get. all these new Vox thingiebobbers...they are beyond me. (even though I know the technical name...haha)
I tried that once and I failed miserably. I don't think I have the right piracy - I mean - download software. I wanted to post the song, "Once In Love With Amy", sung by what must have been a cat puppet because the intro was "Jazz for Kitties". If I could find it YouTube one day, I'd be sooo happy. But last I checked (a few months ago) I came up short.
We're doing PR for a DVD called "How William Shatner Changed the World". Interested?
I'm intrigued! Do tell...
Oh, we saw that when it was broadcast.
Cool.
Uhhhh... YEA!!

Ha. Jest if you must. In fact, that's what most of the reviewers are doing. The DVD shows examples of Star Trek influencing the scientific world. Actually it's been getting more attention for that particular client than it's received in a very long time.

I'm sure I can rip off a couple of extra copies! Can you write a positive review? Make up some fake traffic numbers? It's for the greater good - remember, think of the Shat!

I <3 William Shatner. --- Me & my friend were just sitting here talking about last night's episode of Boston Legal
I think I heard a couple of songs from this CD --- they were good!.
Did anyone else ever see "Free Enterprise" ? --- He does a RAP song about Julius Caesar in that...heh-heh.
Amy, you should consider ripping your own CDs to mp3s. if you own the CD it is legal and there are many advantages: besides uploading songs to your Vox (so you can listen to them, natch), you can also create mp3s to make your own "mix-tape" CDs, or to listen in the car, or... as long as it is for your personal use.
I've been using a CD ripper which is public and free: CDex. it takes a bit of work to setup (not much), but once setup it is very simple to use. of course, it requires that you have a CD-drive in your PC. let me know if you are interested and I'll try to help.

back to the topic at hand: I never been a fan of Shatner, but he is growing on me. is hard to not appreciate someone who is so game at making fun of himself.

I would love to help out and to see the DVD. I'll shoot you my address. I also used to be one who mocked Shatner, but I've been catching some old Star Trek episodes and what I really appreciate is the diversity of the crew. They really stretched for their tme and made some strong statements about equality. Except for the trampy alien chicks, that is.

Mariser - thanks for the tip. I'll check it out and if I need guidance (mos' likely) I'll come crying for help!

you are totally on mark about the diversity of the ST crew; it also took me several years to appreciate it. and since you are a freelancer, you can place those Shatner reviews...

be happy to help you: here's a step-by-step tutorial on how to install. it looks complicated, but is well-explained. I'll also help, but no crying.

Captain James T.Kirk can rock? Wow, I never knew that! And I too am a fan of Ben Folds so mebbe I'd like this too...

I was a Trekkie freak all in high school and after, totally in love the Capt. and Mr. Spock and especially Scottie with his sexy Scottish brogue. Those were fun times in front of the tube! I'm glad WS is still a presence in the media.
I use musicmatch which is also free, but Windows media is probably already on your computer and they have it as well. if I can figure it out, I'm SURE you can! That's how I post all my aduio. I have never downloaded any music ever. I used to do Napster right before it got yanked & wasn't free anymore.
1) I was always more of a Next Generation kid in the Star Trek canon; I'm currently collecting all episodes. Even the ones with John DeLancie as Q, and even the ones with Wil Wheaton as Ensign Crusher. In case you suspected I might not be quite geeky enough.
2) I know my $#!t in the digital audio dept. too, so I could also help. Though I suspect Mariser won't steer you too far wrong. ;)
3) Aubrey, to paraphrase Anthony Michael Hall in Sixteen Candles, you're like Queen of the Dip$#!ts. (umm... and by this I mean, you've gone so far and deep into nerd territory you've looped back around into überhip) (erm... it's a compliment... honest)

you know Wil Wheaton has a Vox account, right?

Thanks, Teho! I have the musicmatch thingie on my computer, but I can't figure out how to save as mp3, it makes me save as something else and then Vox doesn't like the format.

I'll take another whack it at this weekend when I have time to get all frustrated.

Thanks everyone for helping me with yet another technical challenge!

(I did finally buy a DVD player. Welcome to the 90's, indeed).

I did not. I knew he was a longtime blogger and intarwebs personality, though.
Me no like MusicMatch. MusicMatch make me mad. MASH MUSICMATCH!
Erm. Did that help?

dewd. wil is so cool he has his very own fark tag

if that doesn't make you a God of teh internets, nothing will

ROFL!

Yes, exactly! Throw in a primal scream on the end and that's pretty much what it's like around here.

musicmatch? <shudders> sorry. as a Certified Internets Snob(tm), I don't do that.
You did know Shatner also was in a very odd movie entirely in esperanto -- I forget the title, but it was filmed at Big Sur.
And a couple of excellent Twilight Zones, including the famous gremlins on the wings episodes.

Amy, when I rip songs off CDs, it just throws them into the "My Music" file which is in the "My Documents" folder of my computer so that when I am in "Compose" on Vox and add audio, I just take it from my computer. or else if you aren't composing anything and just want to add it to your audio, just go into edit or organize on Vox.

I ony have issues with Music Match when adding stuff to my mp3 player. Other than that I am too ignorant to be snobby about this stuff!

and the only reason I am adding my input among experts is because I can relate, if you don't get all the computer stuff. I know Teho & Mariser are much more qualified to give better advice, but you know what I'm sayin, right? You & I are both self-proclaimed computards, I think.

That was the scariest piece of television I've ever seen. Once I got over the Abominable Snowman in "Rudolph", that is. I can still remember almost all of the gremlin episode and I only saw it once. The only thing as creepy to me was the X-Files with the inbreds. *shudders*

Computard. That's me! I'll try Marisers Internet Snob Software (tm) and see if I can fare any better. I don't have an mp3 player (shocker) so I've only burned CDs and saved them in my music library. The times I've tried to copy and upload onto Vox, I was denied.

Yesssssssss...thank you, T. Um, yeah, means alot.

From what I've heard/read, the DVD is more straightforward, then camp. Some people liked that, and some haven't.

And on a completely different note, for some reason the water has been turned off in our office. Difficulties are ahead.

Aubrey, the husband and I greatly enjoyed that show -- it was on either History or Discovery. With that title we were expecting camp too, but it was serious. Even The Shat was toned down a bit. A bit. Quite well done all-around.
