Mr. LT put in our disposal from scratch all by himself, and you're at least as butch as he is. :)

Srsly, it's not that much tougher than a faucet and they're pretty cheap if you don't need the super-duper grindy ones. And since you cook even less than me, go ahead and cheap out.

Probably be a good idea to have someone along just b/c there's always that one step that 3 hands are good for.
Looks like about $80-120 at Home Depot, probably a little more or less depending on where you go.
I don't think they cost much or take much trouble. If I'm wrong, just patch it with "liquid steel" for now and deal with the replacement later.
Heck, slap some duct tape over it (and don't use it!) for a couple days till you can get a new one.
lmao i like the duct tape answer.
but yeah theyre not too expensive and pretty easy to put in.
btw: Thanks for reminding me to be grateful that I DON'T have A/C. One less think to fall apart right now.
Good luck! You can do it!!!
I've replaced my own casement window mechanisms, but I'm so freakin paranoid of water now, there's no way I'd try to do this myself. Moar power to you for trying! Good luck!
mmm. is about a 100.00 bucks for the disposal, (get a good one), and another 100 for the install if you can't do it yourself. I hate plumbing myself, and after blowing up the bathroom...twice, I'm not allowed to do it anymore.
Ugh!!! So sorry about all this repair crapola going on! :(
But, Elvis (and you) need your comfortable (even livable) air temperature. No doubt about that.

As for the GD, I 'll bet it won't be that expensive....like above folks said, get a cheaper model and let them install it.
There's all kinds of tutorials online about replacing your garbage disposal. Or, if you are looking for cheap..just fix the leak with J-B weld. It only costs about $5. That's what DeWitte used to fix ours but we're more repair than replace kind of people and I know that's not everybody's cup of tea.

I'm liking the J-B Weld/liquid steel option. From the review, that's what is going on with my unit. One rusted out hole and the beginnings of some others. The grinder itself seems to be working fine. That will buy me some time until more extreme measures need to be taken!

Thanks!
