Ah, the first scorpion of spring.
Elvis alerted me to its presence, wedged in the track of my patio door, with only its stinger-y tail sticking out.
I would post a picture, but its demise was swift and violent. No time for a 'before' pic, and the 'after' pic would not have been pretty. I could only get a section at a time. Gruesome, yet satisfying.
And so it begins.
This is the view I had from last Sunday's Ironman aid station where I was volunteering. The buildings in the background are offices and condominiums. I would totally live there if I could afford it. Views of the lake (which is a re-hydrated section of the dammed up Rio Salado riverbed), walking distance to all the bars and shops of Mill Avenue, a quick shot to downtown Phoenix and minutes - nay, seconds - to the airport.
(And for a particular someone out there doing a job search, it's a quick shot to the start-up bioscience facilities, too. HINT! HINT!)
Just a little bit to the left of this picture is where I'll be playing tonight with my group, the Arizona Wind Symphony. The winds have died down from earlier this week and the temperature is back to reasonable. Double yay!
Should be a great show, even if just for being outside on an Arizona spring evening.
